What is Private Domain Registration?
Private Domain Registration is a feature that is intended to protect your domain name from unwanted and unsolicited contact from telemarketers and senders of spam. Private Domain Registration is designed to protect your private information (email, phone, and home/business address) from the public. By utilizing Private Domain Registration certain "Whois" information will be hidden from the public. Contact with your domain name will now be filtered through the domain name registrar who will take steps to contact you with a prescreened message. You then control how it is you respond to the message. This service is not available for .us domains
What is the cost of Private Domain Registration?
The cost of this service is $8.95 annually. The service is coterminus with your domain name registration and will be renewed and billed annually as long as you have the Private Domain Registration option enabled.
How do I sign up for Private Domain Registration?
You may enroll in this service during the activation of a hosting account.
If you already have an existing domain name with us and would like to set up Private Domain Registration, login to your account and go to the domain settings section to activate the service.
What happens when someone tries to contact me?
- Email:
Any email will first be scanned for any unauthorized contacts, including spam. Any mail determined to be legitimate mail will receive an autoresponse directing the sender to a Web form that can be used to submit a message to the registrant. If the submitter completes the form properly, an email will be sent with the form's contents to the domain administrative contact within three business days of receipt of the form contents. - Land Mail:
Only mail sent "certified" or "signed for" will be accepted. This mail will be opened, scanned and emailed to the registrant. The registrant may then request that the original land mail be sent COD to their mailing address on record with the registrar. - Telephone Contacts:
The caller will hear a phone message directing them to a Web form that can be used to submit a message.
