XO Communications Completes Nationwide IP Network Upgrade
XO Expands 10 Gigabit IP Transit Services Availability to 83 Locations Nationwide
HERNDON, VA - February 25, 2008 – XO Communications (OTCBB: XOHO), a leading provider of 21st century communications for businesses and communications service providers, today announced that it has completed a major capacity upgrade of its nationwide IP network to meet the growing demand for high-speed Internet access services as the company continues to expand more aggressively into the IP transit services market. In addition, XO Communications has expanded the number of locations from which it can provide 10 Gigabit Ethernet IP Transit services to 83 locations nationwide
XO Communications deployed the Cisco® CRS-1 Carrier Routing System in the core of its nationwide IP network which supports a broad range of services, including high-speed Dedicated Internet access, IP Transit, IP-VPN and VoIP services for businesses, large enterprises and service providers. The upgrade increased XO's IP network capacity by 100 percent and sets the stage for a four-fold increase, while providing the ability to scale to a multi-terabit capable router nodes.

XO High-Speed Transit Services
XO High Speed IP Transit services provide cable companies, content providers, enterprises, and domestic and international telecommunications companies with fast, reliable Internet backbone access without the cost of building and managing a Tier 1 network. The services are now available in 83 locations nationwide, including three new locations: NAP of the Americas in Miami, 56 Marietta in Atlanta, and the Westin Building in Seattle.
With many bandwidth options available along with XO's robust peering arrangements, XO High Speed IP Transit services provide:
- DS3, OC3, OC12, OC48, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet Service options
- Full port or Burstable billing options
- Specialized routing options including Border Gateway Protocol (BGP); and
- Direct connectivity to high valued content and access destinations on the Internet
90-Day Risk Free Trial Guarantee
Under the XO 3 Guarantee Program, wholesale carrier customers can trial XO IP Transit services for one 90-day period without term commitment. If the customer is not satisfied, the customer only pays for the services used under the trial.
The upgrade of the XO IP network follows the expansion of the XO long-haul transport network to deliver a broader range of high-capacity network transport services, including Ethernet, private line and wavelength services. Last year, XO Communications deployed an additional 800 Gbps of capacity in core XO long-haul network nodes on major coast-to-coast network routes. This additional network capacity augments a capacity expansion completed earlier last year which delivered 400 Gbps of capacity across the entire XO long-haul network.
