McLEAN, VA - What: NEXTLINK Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:NXLK) today announced the following initiatives:
New Brand: NEXTLINK Communications becomes XO Communications (NASDAQ:XOXO) -- reflecting the core business strengths of NEXTLINK and Concentric, which merged earlier this year and signifies the company’s transformation into a full-service, integrated broadband communications company.
First of its Kind Offering: New XOptions flat rate service package, rolled out in 50 markets today, changes the way businesses purchase communications services including local, long distance, Internet access and web hosting.
The Largest Gigabit Ethernet capability: XO announced today a new high-speed local data service for large businesses known as gigabit Ethernet. The service will be launched in the San Francisco Bay Area, where Yahoo! Inc. will be the first major customer, but will be extended to other cities in coming months.
