Concentric Connects Surging Asian Market by Providing Global Transit Services to GNG Networks
GNG Networks is Third Korean Provider to Increase Bandwidth Capacity Using Global Transit
SAN JOSE, CA - Concentric, a NEXTLINK Communications Company (NASDAQ: NXLK), and a leading provider of e-business solutions for growing companies, today announced that it is providing Global Transit services to GNG Networks, the leading infrastructure provider in Korea. This marks the third leading service provider this year in the quickly growing Korean market to increase network capacity with Global Transit connectivity from Concentric. GNG Networks will access Concentric’s Tier 1 Internet backbone through submarine cable systems.
GNG Networks is one of the largest telecommunication carriers in the Korean market with over 5000 miles of fiber optic cable network. GNG is currently transforming its business focus to providing Internet infrastructure and hosting services via a brand new, state-of-the-art, 150,000 square foot data center in Seoul. By expanding this network to the U.S. using Concentric’s Global Transit services, GNG Networks can connect to Concentric’s redundant, ATM/OC-3/OC-12 backbone to more quickly deliver international data traffic. In addition to supporting the delivery of U.S.-centric content, Concentric Global Transit service will be critical for Korean content demand originating in the United States and sourced out of GNG's data center operations.
“Our partnership with Concentric will further our journey toward becoming the leading Internet infrastructure specialty company in Korea,” said Juho Hahm, managing director of GNG Networks’ Internet Data Center business division. “Concentric’s extensive peering arrangements and flexible network architecture - which ensures that our Internet traffic flows as efficiently as possible - is essential to providing high-performance access for our customers.”
“Global Transit from Concentric is helping companies such as GNG Networks kick start their global presence, as well as providing the flexibility to rapidly grow that presence in the future,” said Mark Fisher, senior vice president of marketing for Concentric. “With three providers in Korea already using Concentric bandwidth, we feel confident that we are providing this market with faster connections and better user experiences for their customers.”
